Facilities

mLAC is located strategically in the vicinity of national institutes of repute such as Indian Institute of Science, Institute of Wood Science & Technology, National Institute of Advanced Studies, Raman Research Institute and Central Power Research Institute. These institutions of repute provide an excellent academic model for developing various facilities. Being located in the heart of Bangalore city, the institution has used the available area judiciously and optimally. The various departments of the institution are spread over three floors with ICT enabled classrooms and labs. All the labs are adequately provided with ergonomically designed furniture and fixtures, equipment, lighting and ventilation, so as to facilitate students and teachers to work with ease. The quadrangle is a hub of students’ activities and the lounge provides an ambiance for students to unwind.

If an institution’s commitment is viewed through the depth of its resource base, we surely will show up in flying colours. Some of the greatest strengths of our institution are transparency, accountability and good management practices. So, with the right academic policies and innovation, we have been able to build an infrastructure that is comparable to the best. We have excellent laboratories in:

  • Biochemistry
  • Bio-informatics
  • Biotechnology
  • Botany
  • Business Lab
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science
  • Language Lab
  • Mathematics Lab
  • Microbiology
  • Physics
  • Psychology
  • Zoology

We have proved that innovation plays a crucial role in infrastructure creation. When a young member comes up with a unique idea and if it needs investment in physical space and equipment, the idea is taken up seriously and executed successfully. In fact, several initiatives such as Biotechnology Finishing School, Bio-informatics Facility and Animal House are the results of such a culture of urgency.

Technology

We believe in leveraging the power of the latest technologies to stay ahead. We have deployed a revolutionary mobile-based institution management system, created by a new generation firm, ipomo. The mobile-based system is easy, foolproof and enables us to make quick decisions, because it gives us the right reports without much of human intervention.

The computer science lab and well equipped biotechnology labs are the one among the best in the city and the institution is a pioneer in establishing the Business Lab which is visited by many contemporaries for its design and content. A fully equipped gymnasium managed by a trainer and a first aid facility staffed by a qualified nurse are student support services available in the campus. An air-conditioned auditorium, an open air theatre as well as a seminar hall are available for extracurricular and co-curricular activities. The UGC Network Resource Centre, ED Centre, Business Lab, English Language Lab, Bio Informatics Facility, Animal House, Zoology Museum, Ramanujan Math Foss Lab, Counselling Centre, Placement Centre, Psychology lab, Reprography centre and Cafeteria are also located in the campus.

Student life

What started as a first batch of mere 4 students is today a massive team of over 4,000! We are indeed proud of our students, and justifiably so. Among them, they possess a wide range of talents. We take pride that we have been able to extend their levels of achievement.

With each passing year, more and more students aspire to study at mLAC. While this may sound good, we constantly ask of ourselves, “Can we do justice? Can we do justice to the additional students?” That is because excellence is a core value in this institution. It just does not remain in the policy book in the boardroom.

It is practiced down to the last individual. Excellence means complete commitment to the all-round development of every student. This is our deliverable. It means individual attention to every student through all the years she spends with us. It is not easy to achieve this. But we are always trying. We try to bring in innovative ways of keeping a tab on the progress of every student on campus.

We believe in adopting newer paradigms in learning. We believe that parents know their wards better from a behavioural perspective. They have a closer understanding of the girl’s responses to different stimuli. This helps the teacher in devising and implementing customized learning programs for each student.

We are aware that every individual is capable of doing so much more. As Swami Vivekananda said, “Each soul is infinite.” We are forever trying to bring out the best from them. Not just in academics, but in their overall progress, we are leaving no stone unturned.

We encourage the girls to hear the voices within and pursue the passion of their choice. There is freedom and there is responsibility to achieve their stated goals. Over time, they realize the importance of independence and of their responsibility to the other stakeholders in their lives.

The best reflection always comes from our alumni. We do not expect them to sing praises of their alma mater. We work hard to make them our brand ambassadors. And we seek their honest opinion to make our output even better. Our stream of achievers every year adds glow to our stature and reinforces our commitment to those on campus.

Beyond curriculum

mLAC is aware that the true goal of education is character building. Our focus is on enabling all-round development of the student. We have an integrated perspective of initiatives beyond the curriculum.

Extracurricular activities:

The college is always playing an inspirational role in the growth of the intellectual faculties of the students. We encourage our students to play an active role in any activity that can spark their aptitude. In fact, such activities can in future become the central part of their careers as well. These include street play, quiz, debate, pencil sketching, treasure hunt, inno-waste, bio-remix, poster presentation, face painting, entrepreneurship, collage, ad design, e-painting, mock stock…

mLAC is committed to building a youth force that is healthy and well equipped to provide responsible leadership in the digital era. Students become sensitized to the environment they are part of by pursuing one or more of the following:

NCC (National Cadet Corps):

mLAC was given authority to function independently from 1 KarBn NCC. Our students are very active and have won several laurels for excellence at different occasions.

Bharat Scouts and Guides:

Guiding is one of the world’s largest youth movements, with over 8 million members. We have vibrant guiding activities.

NSS (National Service Scheme):

Our college initiated the NSS unit in 1975. Our students organize and participate in NSS workshops.

At mLAC, we take our students beyond the conventional curriculum, so they can extend the limits of the possible.
